In line with the strategic requirements of the Yangtze River Economic Belt to focus on comprehensive protection rather than large-scale development, the technical upgrade project for Huqiang’s plant is advancing steadily. To further optimize the investment and financing models as well as the operational models, with the close attention of party committees at all levels in Shanxi and Hubei provinces, and through the efforts of various parties and the cooperation of relevant departments, a new company has been officially registered; the registered capital contributed by the three shareholders has been fully deposited. At present, the project has completed the necessary registrations, safety assessments, environmental impact assessments, energy assessments, and stability assessments. The relocation of residents from the area designated for construction, the removal of surface attachments, preliminary geological surveys, and the planning of logistics routes have also been finished. Currently, work is underway on land grading and the removal of earthworks. The next steps will include changing the project procedures, grading the site, carrying out preliminary design, and issuing tenders for long-term equipment. The technical upgrade project for Huahua Chemical’s plant, aimed at increasing annual ammonia alcohol production to 550,000 tons, was approved by the Yichang Environmental Protection Bureau at the end of 2019. On January 21, 2020, the project received approval from Jinmei Group as well. The total investment in Huahua Chemical’s 550,000-ton ammonia and methanol technology upgrade project is 2,994,657,200 yuan. The project is located in the Dangyang Economic and Technological Development Zone in Hubei Province, and it will be constructed in two phases: Phase 1 involves the upgrade of production capacity for synthetic ammonia to 400,000 tons per year, while Phase 2 focuses on upgrading the methanol production capacity to 150,000 tons per year. Based on the production requirements specified by the facility and the quality of the raw coal, 5 Saiding coal crushing and pressurized gasification units with a diameter of φ3842mm and a pressure of 4.0 MPa have been installed for ammonia synthesis, operating in a configuration of 4 units in use and 1 unit as backup during normal production. One coal-crushing pressurized slag gasification furnace is installed for methanol production. In actual production, the load of the Saiding coal-fired pressurized gasification units is adjusted based on the operating conditions of the coal-fired pressurized slag gasification unit; the maximum operating scenario is one in which the coal-fired pressurized slag gasification unit is not in use, with all 5 Saiding coal-fired pressurized gasification units running at full capacity to meet the annual production requirement of 550,000 tons of ammonia alcohol ; Similarly, when the crushed coal pressurized slag gasification furnace reaches full load, the operating load of the crushed coal gasification furnace is adjusted accordingly.
