The expansion and renovation project for liquid ammonia/hydrogen at Fujian Yongrong Technology has been approved. In March 2026, the Fujian Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment issued a approval notice regarding the intelligent transformation project for the comprehensive utilization of syngas as part of Fujian Yongrong Technology Co., Ltd.’s CPL integrated facility project. According to the publicly available environmental impact assessment information, the Fujian Yongrong Syngas Comprehensive Utilization Intelligent Transformation Project involves the expansion or technical upgrading of various units in the existing Phase II hydrogen production and ammonia synthesis facilities. The configuration of the gasification unit will be changed from 1 operating gasifier with 1 standby to 2 operating gasifiers; an additional isothermal shift reactor will be installed. The internals of the desulfurization and decarburization towers will be replaced, and the liquid nitrogen washing system will be substituted with high-efficiency molecular sieves, along with an increase in their loading amount. The internals of the synthesis tower in the ammonia synthesis unit were replaced, and the catalyst was changed to a high-efficiency catalyst. Process optimization of PSA hydrogen production unit. After the renovation, the liquid ammonia production capacity was increased from 300,000 tons per year to 500,000 tons per year, while the hydrogen production capacity was increased from 40,000 m3/h to 80,000 m3/h. After the renovation, the process technology plan remains unchanged: space furnace gasification, shift reaction, and low-temperature methanol washing for carbon removal, pressure swing adsorption for hydrogen production, Keyang wet process for acid production, liquid nitrogen washing, and domestic low-pressure ammonia synthesis technology are still used. The modification involves converting the existing aerospace gasification furnace from one in operation and one as backup to two units in operation. The coal feeding rate per gasifier is 1,582 t/d. One additional first-stage isothermal transformation reactor has been added to the transformation unit. The purification tank, which was originally designed with one in use and one as a backup, was changed to have two in use, and the purification tank was modified into an insulated reactor. The main equipment replacement for low-temperature methanol washing involves the replacement of the internals in the tower (the internals of the acidic gas washing tower are replaced, with a sieve tray tower being substituted by a double-layer vertical sieve tray tower). The PSA-H2 pressure swing adsorption unit has been optimized to a 10-2-4 PSA process flow to improve purification efficiency. Technical renovation of the vent gas recovery system and vent gas-related pipelines in the cryogenic tank using liquid nitrogen washing ; The molecular sieve used for liquid nitrogen washing was reselected and completely replaced; the filling volume was increased from 30 m3 to 40 m3. By increasing the amount of molecular sieve used, the processing capacity of the liquid nitrogen washing process was enhanced. Ammonia synthesis is achieved by modifying the interior of the synthesis tower, replacing the existing internal components with radial or axiradial flow components, and installing new, high-efficiency iron-based catalysts. The total investment for the project is 223.204 million yuan.
