The hydrogen energy-synthetic ammonia integration optimization project of Shanxi Tongzhou Coal and Coking Group is a renovation and expansion project for the LNG and synthetic ammonia facilities associated with Shanxi Tongzhou’s 2.15 million tons per year coke ovens project. The project construction includes a hydrogen production unit capable of producing 146 million cubic meters per year of 99.999% pure hydrogen (renovation), a purification unit that can produce 48 million cubic meters per year of 99.999% pure hydrogen (new construction), a hydrogen refueling and storage station with a capacity of 6,000 cubic meters per hour (new construction); phase one of the hydrogen station has a capacity of 3,000 cubic meters per hour, while phase two is planned to have an equivalent capacity of 3,000 cubic meters per hour. The project adopts a flexible operation mode of producing more ammonia during low-demand periods and more hydrogen during peak periods, thereby ensuring the continuous and stable operation of the production facilities. Once the project is fully operational, it will be able to produce 160 million standard cubic meters of pure hydrogen and 80,000 tons of synthetic ammonia per year, with the purity of the hydrogen reaching 99.99%.
