According to the official WeChat account of Dushanzi Online, during the May Day holiday in 2026, the fertilizer production facility of Dushanzi Petrochemical’s Tarim branch will continue to operate without interruption, with efforts being made to complete any remaining tasks. The relocation and renovation of the fertilizer plant were completed in early February with the lifting of large-scale equipment. According to Dushanzi Online in March, work on pipeline pressure testing, instrument installation, and electrical wiring for the relocation and renovation of the fertilizer production facility at Dushanzi Petrochemical’s Tarim branch has been fully underway. More than 600 construction workers remain at the work site, working hard to ensure high-quality and high-standard completion of the installation and to facilitate its smooth commissioning in the second half of the year. The target set for the project is to complete construction by May 30, with official operation starting in the second half of the year. The relocation and renovation of the fertilizer plant at the Tarim Branch of Dushanzi Petrochemical involves dismantling the existing ammonia and urea synthesis plants, with the equipment that can still be used after maintenance being utilized as part of the new plant’s equipment. After the relocation, hydrogen and fuel gas are separated from the hydrogen produced as a by-product of the Phase 1 and Phase 2 ethylene production in Tarim, through processes such as pressurization, pressure swing adsorption, and membrane recovery. Hydrogen and nitrogen produced by the air separation plant are used to produce synthetic ammonia. Urea is produced from ammonia and CO2 captured from the flue gases of ethylene cracking furnaces and power station boilers. The capacity is 450,000 tons per year for synthetic ammonia and 800,000 tons per year for urea. The fertilizer plant relocation and renovation project is included in CNPC Taishihua’s Phase II ethylene and related green and low-carbon demonstration project.
