According to Northwest Energy Chemicals, on May 6, the company held a mobilization meeting for the 2026 annual maintenance work. On May 7, the comprehensive system overhaul for 2026 at Northwest Energy & Chemical Company commenced. This major overhaul includes 744 maintenance tasks, 1,056 special inspections and calibrations, and 10 key technical upgrades. The maintenance focuses on the methanol main unit, while simultaneously carrying out comprehensive inspections and tests of pressure vessels, pressure pipelines, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, electrical instruments, automatic control systems, fire emergency systems, and more. Carry out in-depth hazard elimination for major hazard sources, key equipment, and critical areas to enhance the intrinsic safety of the equipment. Ordos Northwest Energy Chemical Company uses the multi-material slurry gasification technology from the Northwest Institute of Chemical Engineering, the wide-temperature sulfur-tolerant shift reaction process, and the low-temperature methanol washing process. It also employs single-series catalytic synthesis reactors of the shell-and-tube external cooling-insulated composite fixed-bed type developed by East China University of Science and Technology, to produce 200,000 tons of methanol per year. Put into operation in September 2016. Renovations were carried out in recent years, expanding the methanol production capacity to 300,000 tons. After the renovation, drive it in August 2024.
