Generally, the mechanical seal of a cold ammonia pump is prone to freezing and needs to be defrosted before starting. Currently, there are those using methanol, ethylene glycol, and propylene glycol. There is a standard "VHAP" involved. What is this requirement? It probably involves factors such as the environment, but please let me know the details.
Pumps marked VHAP are suitable for transporting volatile toxic gases or pollutant media.
We use a canned pump with no external mechanical seal, so we don’t use deicing medium, haha
