Description of the situation: The outlet at the bottom of the acid tank in the workshop (containing hydrochloric acid solution, which is formed by mixing hydrogen chloride, pure water, and a small amount of oily organic substances) is connected to a centrifugal pump, with the output going to the reaction vessel. The pipe material is PP. Question: This pump often fails to draw up liquid when transferring acidic water to the reaction vessel (the analyzed reason is the high concentration of acidic water). Do the experts here on the forum have any good suggestions?
At room temperature, there is no such problem with the pumping of 31% hydrochloric acid; could it be caused by a higher temperature of the acid solution or by the presence of components such as light hydrocarbons that are prone to desorption? If so, it is recommended that cooling measures be added to the acid water tank system.

This could also be caused by the pump not being filled with fluid; it is air locking rather than cavitation. Air locking is usually manifested by the pump failing to generate pressure or to feed material, while cavitation is often accompanied by a sharp noise.
