According to a report from Donghua Technology in March 2026, the company recently won a contract to provide the biomass gasification process package and related technical services for the first phase of Handan biomass green methanol project undertaken by Yunda Energy Technology Group Co., Ltd. The project is located in the Chemical Industry Park of Cixian Economic Development Zone, Handan City, Hebei Province, with a capacity of 110,000 tons per year of green methanol. The project will follow the technical route of \"producing syngas via biomass pressurized bubbling fluidized bed – advanced purification of syngas – synthesis of green methanol\", utilizing the \"Donghua Furnace\" pressurized fluidized bed biomass gasification technology independently developed by Donghua Company to produce high-quality syngas from agricultural and forestry waste, which is then purified to yield green methanol. Donghua Technology’s biomass gasification technology: Relying on the ethylene glycol project of Inner Mongolia New Materials Company, Donghua Company has carried out pilot projects for biomass gasification. The pilot project uses agricultural waste such as straw, forestry waste, and livestock waste as raw materials, and employs pressurized pure oxygen fluidized bed gasification to produce syngas (CO, H2, CH4). The daily processing capacity is 100 tons of biomass. In November 2025, the biomass gasification pilot development project of China National Chemical Engineering Donghua Corporation began operation with feedstock feeding, producing syngas. According to Donghua Technology, its biomass pressurized gasification technology boasts significant advantages such as excellent anti-coking performance, a wide range of suitable raw materials, high processing capacity per furnace, high operating pressure in the gasification furnace, low tar content in the syngas, high carbon conversion efficiency, and reduced wastewater discharge. These advantages enable this technology to greatly enhance the economic viability and environmental benefits of biomass gasification.
