Since the diameter of the pipeline used for loading was designed to be too small (DN65), the loading speed was slow. Now, in an effort to increase the speed, a pump with a capacity of 50 cubic meters and a head of 32 meters has been installed; however, this results in a flow velocity that exceeds the acceptable limit, reaching 3.5–4 m/s. I would like to ask what precautions should be taken if the pipelines are not modified and loading continues in this manner. Could there be a risk of static electricity accumulation leading to an explosion? The medium is flammable and explosive ester-based products. The specification should be no more than 3 mi/S.

Which specification specifies a flow rate of less than 3 m? Please check. Loading 3-4m isn’t that unreasonable either

There are several bases for engineering design: 1. Regulations (such as fire safety regulations): Must be complied with. 2. Standard specifications: GB/HG/SYT: Recommended values (based on expert opinions, with a basis and safety considerations). 3. Owner’s specifications: Failure to follow them results in denial of acceptance. 4. Engineering experience: Although exceeding the flow rate may not necessarily cause problems, any issues that arise in the future will lead to accusations of not following the regulations. So, change the pipe diameter!
