How about using an anemometer to measure gas flow? !

Gas generally has a high flow rate and low pressure; using a large orifice plate for monitoring will result in inaccurate readings. What do you think of the idea of using an anemometer to measure wind speed and then calculating the flow rate based on the pipe diameter? Has it been used?
What is the gas pressure? What are the temperature and pressure? Are there any impurities in gas?
Is it really necessary to understand gas in order to select the right instrument? !
An anemometer measures linear velocity, not the velocity through a cross-section. Also, I feel that the anemometer’s accuracy is not sufficient.
The precision definitely meets the requirements.
