Propane spherical tanks are equipped with dehydration systems; Section 6.3.14 of the fire protection standard GB 50160-2008 states that \"full-pressure liquefied hydrocarbon storage tanks should employ a secondary dehydration system with anti-freezing measures, and emergency shut-off valves should be installed at the base of the tanks.\" What is required here. But for example, in an propylene distillation tower, there is a reflux tank (with a subcooler), and a pump – a canned motor pump – is used at the bottom of the reflux tank to pump out the propylene. The question then is: Is it necessary to install a drainage line (or a drainage demister) in this reflux tank? Is it dangerous if no setting is applied to the pump? The image below shows a reflux tank equipped with a liquid separation vessel. What would happen if this liquid separation vessel were not present?
They all come with a liquid separation package; without it, it’s not possible to separate the material in a timely manner when it contains a small amount of water; It can be omitted if it is impossible for the equipment to contain water during the processing. Otherwise, water presence may affect the operation of subsequent processes, and it may also cause the shielded pump to trip due to overcurrent.
Set it according to actual needs. If it is confirmed that it is not possible to bring water, it can be omitted.
As a supplementary note: moisture is allowed in our subsequent processing steps; the operating pressure of this reflux tank is 2.2 MPa, and if a demister is not used, the instruments in the drainage system can be omitted. The concern now is whether this water-containing propylene will cause damage to the shielded pump Water content: approximately 0.5%
