For a vertical storage tank with a diameter of 2800 mm that is used to mix two liquids (via pumping for circulation), is it better to use a bottom pipe at the feed inlet on the top of the tank or not?
The liquid feed pipes must be inserted to a depth of about 200 mm at the bottom. Moreover, a hole for breaking the siphon should be made in the pipe located in the gas phase space of the tank after it is placed inside the tank.
If it isn’t inserted all the way, liquid may splash and static electricity may be generated.
As a supplementary note, not using a ground connection may cause fluctuations in the liquid level, leading to false level readings.
The liquids that need to be mixed are not hazardous chemicals. The flash points are all above 120°C. The goal is also to achieve a uniform mixture.
Then I suggest using a nozzle, as that will improve the mixing effect. It’s not necessary to feed from the top; actually, the bottom works as well
It depends on the properties of the medium; there are corresponding specifications
It is recommended to feed from the lower tangent direction; if a nozzle is used, feeding should be done from the bottom.
**Bottom feeding is recommended, see 50160.6.2.24. However, in practical design, since the bottom outlet is at a disadvantage in stress calculations, more people prefer to locate it at the top. (The top part is easy to handle; leaks from torn pipe openings and gaskets are less of a problem.) If it is installed at the top, it must be inserted 200 units down to the bottom, and a siphon hole must be created in the gas phase area.
