Is an assist gas required for TCD in GC?

The air generator that was originally attached to the gas chromatograph in the laboratory was removed, and a new one was purchased later; however, the air pressure on the pressure gauge of the chromatograph reads zero. But after doing a search on Baidu, there was no clear indication as to whether the absence of an auxiliary gas affects TCD detection; I hope someone who knows about these instruments can provide an answer. I think TCD relies on thermal conductivity for detection, so it has little impact.
It shouldn’t be necessary; FID is required!
