Specifications for selecting wires for equipment grounding

The construction team uses very thin ordinary wires for the grounding of moving and stationary equipment. Are there any standards specifying the thickness of these wires or the required resistance values? I checked, and the specifications all refer to flat iron or copper-clad steel that is connected to ground.
Equipment grounding is usually done using flat iron or round steel; the flat iron should be at least 4*4 in size.
