Is a steam temperature and pressure reducer essential equipment? Is the steam generated by ordinary boilers saturated steam or superheated steam? It is generally required that \"superheated steam be used for long-distance steam transmission.\" But just how long does this term \"long-distance\" refer to? The factory itself has boilers that supply steam to various production workshops. Does this count as a long-distance transmission? If the factory uses steam from outside (such as the steam supplied uniformly throughout the industrial park), is the steam entering the factory superheated or saturated? It seems that coal chemical plants in the north all have temperature and pressure reducers, while fine chemical plants in the south don’t seem to have any such devices
Generally, small boilers produce saturated steam, and the distances over which steam is transported within the premises of small to medium-sized factories are not very long. Whether it’s saturated or superheated steam entering the plant from the outside depends on the circumstances. In the north, environmental protection measures require that superheated steam be delivered from industrial parks; the losses associated with the transmission of such steam are low. When using superheated steam, it is necessary to reduce its temperature and pressure, while saturated steam only requires pressure reduction. In the south, there is also a reduction in temperature and pressure; most industrial parks in Jiangsu and Zhejiang receive centrally supplied superheated steam.

The lowest pressure of the superheated steam boiler is 2.45 MPa. Oversaturated steam boilers have a higher thermal efficiency than saturated steam boilers, and their flow rates are generally higher as well. Now, environmental regulations are stricter; new enterprises are not allowed to install small coal-fired boilers, and existing boilers also need to have their exhaust gas purification systems upgraded. Centralized heating in the park is a relatively economical method. When negotiating the contract, it’s possible to specify which type of steam is required. A distance of a few hundred meters within the plant area is acceptable in terms of pipeline losses for saturated steam (drain valves must be installed on the pipes; drainage is necessary when starting up or shutting down the steam supply). The steam I supply to a factory about a kilometer away is also saturated steam, with a flow rate of around 10 tons. Thermally superheated steam requires temperature-reducing pressure regulators, which are not economical for long-term use. The thermal power of the steam after spraying water and temperature reduction decreases. (There are relevant posts in the forum.) But it’s a simple method. If a large amount of saturated steam is used on the user side, it can be directed to drive the turbine at the outlet, thereby replacing the motors of large-scale equipment such as air compressors, fans, and water pumps. By reducing pressure and temperature, the steam can be converted back into saturated steam before being discharged, thus saving electrical energy.
