There is currently 0.6 MPa saturated steam available; however, the process requirements call for steam at 200°C. How can 0.6 MPa saturated steam be used to achieve a temperature of 200°C?
Theoretically, the steam can be pressurized to over 1.6 Mpa; it’s not clear how this is done in practice, but an electrically heated heat transfer oil circulation system could also be considered
That is superheated steam; the steam continues to heat up
Based on the amount of gas used, the steam can be heated by flue gas, electric heating, or heat transfer oil, thereby improving its quality!
Directly heating steam to raise its temperature only results in superheated steam, which is of no use in process heating, unless it is used to drive turbines. The outlet temperature of the steam compressor in an MVR is around 150°, and it’s superheated; after water is sprayed to saturate it, the temperature drops to around 120°. It’s really not easy to turn low-pressure saturated steam into high-pressure saturated steam.
In saturated steam, as the temperature rises, the pressure also increases. If you want to keep the pressure constant, then it becomes superheated steam
Superheated steam is used; normal saturated steam has a pressure of 0.6 Mpa (gauge pressure) and a temperature of 165°C.
At 200°, if it is saturated steam, the pressure reaches 1.5 MPa; both the feed water pump and the boiler need to be replaced
Pressure and temperature can be increased using forced ventilation. If the process requires heat exchange with steam at 200°C, then saturated steam is needed; superheated steam is not useful for heat exchange in such processes. The efficiency is too low. Boosting the pressure and temperature of steam using a supercharger requires electrical energy. Everything must adhere to the law of conservation of energy.
