Carbon disulfide has a boiling point of 46.2°C, a flash point of –30°C, and is prone to spontaneous combustion； The liquid has a density greater than that of water and is slightly soluble in water; it is usually stored by using a liquid-level water seal layer inside a tank. Since carbon disulfide is miscible with many organic solvents and other substances, it is common to use other relatively safer organic materials available in the facility to pump into the tank in order to clean the carbon disulfide storage tank and recover the residual carbon disulfide.
