The purpose of adding a U-bend to the steam condensate pipeline

The steam condensate comes from the hydrophobic tank; the discharge of water is controlled by the liquid level in the tank and the control valves on the pipes. It then flows into the flash tank. On-site personnel suggested adding U-bends before the water enters the tank in order to reduce flashing in the pipelines, but I don’t quite understand why adding U-bends can reduce flashing. I would appreciate it if some experienced colleagues could help me figure this out
May I ask, what is the principle behind reducing flashing?
Is the main purpose of this U-shaped tube to reduce vibrations?
Without a U-shaped meniscus seal, steam condensate will flash inside the pipeline, resulting in a gas-liquid mixture within it; this erosion shortens the service life of the pipeline.
Ensure the front section of the pipeline is filled up to the flash point at the rear end.
Reduce the flashing of steam condensate in the pipes, as otherwise vibration in the pipelines carrying both vapor and liquid phases becomes severe; another approach is to place the control valve as close as possible to the downstream flash tank
