The tank is 40 meters long and 600 mm deep, with a height difference of 400 mm between the two ends (600 mm can be taken into account). The flow rate is 30 to 40 cubic meters per hour. What should be the appropriate width of the tank?
How do you determine what’s appropriate? If the traffic demand is met, there is almost no requirement regarding width
The natural flow velocity of the water pipe can be estimated to be less than 0.5 m; if you know the flow rate, you can calculate the cross-sectional area yourself. If you’re not confident, check the friction loss along the flow path and the height difference between the front and back again.
