Yangzi Petrochemical’s pilot plant for producing low-carbon olefins from syngas completed new testing tasks 2024/12/17 According to reports from this newspaper, the pilot plant at Yangzi Petrochemical for producing low-carbon olefins from syngas has successfully completed the second phase of testing under various conditions; the total testing time exceeded 1,200 hours. The catalyst used in this second generation showed advantages such as a high processing capacity and high yields of the products. This experiment is of great significance for advancing the industrialization of low-carbon olefins production from syngas, as well as for promoting the advancement of clean coal conversion and biomass conversion technologies in China. This device is a key research project of Sinopec; it features advantages such as a short process flow and low energy consumption. The first-phase testing was completed in March 2023, and the unit was successfully put into operation in May of this year. The quality analysis of the low-carbon olefins produced was satisfactory, with all process parameters within normal ranges. After successful driving, Yangzi Petrochemical, in collaboration with the Shanghai Institute and the project construction company, initiated the second phase of testing to further evaluate the performance of the new second-generation catalyst with high space-time yield, thereby accumulating valuable experience for its subsequent industrial application.
