Recently, Professor Zhu Yanwu and Associate Researcher Ye Chuanren from the University of Science and Technology of China collaborated to develop a layered composite material based on vertical graphene and modified paraffin, which was fabricated through a layer-by-layer rolling assembly process, thereby achieving a combination of high thermal conductivity and excellent flexibility. At a pressure of 60 psi, the thermal contact resistance of this material is only 17 K·mm²·W⁻¹; its overall thermal conductivity at 55°C is as high as 789 W·m⁻¹·K⁻¹. Moreover, under a heat flux density of 30 W·cm⁻² typical of chips, its temperature rise is significantly lower than that of commercial TIM gaskets, demonstrating excellent heat dissipation capabilities and great potential for practical use. The related paper, titled “Lamellar Composites of Vertical Graphene and Phase-Change Materials for Highly Efficient Heat Dissipation,” was published in ACS Nano.
