Its core process flow typically includes: 1) Amine-based desulfurization: Liquefied gas comes into counter-current contact with an amine-rich solution (such as MDEA) in an absorption tower to remove H₂S and some CO₂ ； 2) Alkali washing/Pre-alkali washing: Removal of residual H₂S and some organic sulfur ； 3) Desulfurization of thiols (Merox process): In the presence of a catalyst (cobalt phthalocyanine) and an alkaline solution (NaOH), thiols are oxidized to odorless disulfides, which are then separated through extraction or fixed-bed oxidation processes. This process is a critical step in ensuring the purity of the raw materials for downstream units such as alkylation and MTBE plants, as well as the quality of the products produced (such as liquefied petroleum gas for household use).
