Why must gasification produce methane, rather than supplying water gas directly?

Who said it has to be that way? Can’t engine manufacturers serve other industries besides the automotive sector?

It mainly depends on the needs of the end-market; if it are urban gas users, methane synthesis may not be necessary； If it’s what was said downstairs, then what’s needed is methane gas ； 2. It depends on the calorific value (the calorific value of methane is higher than that of water gas). 3. It depends on economic considerations; transporting methane via long-distance pipelines requires a much smaller volume compared to water gas. The reaction equation is 2CO + 3H2 = CH4 + 2H2O ；
In the past, city gas was supplied directly as water gas.
