There is now a medium-pressure steam pipeline, with a balance flow meter; the transmitter is of the direct-mounted type and has pressure stabilization compensation functionality, capable of measuring differential pressure and pressure on its own. A K-type thermocouple is installed about one or two meters downstream of it to measure temperature. The signal from the thermocouple needs to be connected to a differential pressure transmitter; what impact will there be if no compensation wire is used in this case? Since both ends of the compensation wire are at roughly the same ambient temperature and the distance between them is short, can a central conductor be used as a substitute?
It is best to use compensation wires, as there is still a difference between the temperature at the wiring box of the steam pipe thermocouple and the temperature at the transmitter. If copper wire is used, the error is the temperature difference between the two locations.
Our company has thermocouples on two pumps, which are connected to the transmitter via terminal cables; the length of these cables is 6 meters. There have been no issues with its usage

Try to ensure that the temperature at the safety barrier terminals and at the clamping elements is similar
As long as the temperature difference is not too large, it can be used
Personally, I think it’s fine to use a thermal resistor without a compensation wire, as the temperature isn’t very high
