In the area under my responsibility, there is an ultrasonic level gauge that has been showing significant fluctuations since it was installed. Attempting to check and adjust various parameters hasn’t worked, and the manufacturer also couldn’t provide any solution. The issue shouldn’t be related to the gauge itself; please help identify the cause.
If the parameters don’t work, isn’t it a problem with the instrument? Is it because it’s not connected, not properly tuned, or there’s a short circuit?
Are the material properties suitable for ultrasonic level gauges? Be cautious in any of the following situations: foamy liquids/solids ; There is high voltage, strong current, and severe electromagnetic interference in the surrounding area; try to avoid high voltage, strong current, and severe electromagnetic interference as much as possible ; Strong winds and direct sunlight.
Make sure that if the material is liquid, the surface should be free of foam; if it is solid, the level of the material should be even, with no low spots or debris floating around. Check the issue with the medium; see if condensation tends to form at the antenna. Verify that the level gauge is installed directly facing the material inlet and outlet. Check for any interference in the surrounding area
Ultrasonic level gauges are highly susceptible to interference
The medium for the rainwater tank level is water. There are no sources of interference.
The answer is very professional: condensate does have an impact on radar level gauges, and ultrasound-based systems are likely to be affected as well, but this isn’t the main reason.
Check how large the space around your measurement point is; in areas with too little space, the echoes from ultrasonic waves cause significant interference
If the pool is not completely open, interference caused by moisture is usually the issue; The level gauge mounting bracket can be raised so that the antenna does not extend into the pool cover; it should be placed above the cover, and the pre-installed holes should be made as large as possible. I encountered this issue in a fire pond before; I then designed my own mounting bracket, and no problems have occurred since. If it’s an open setup, check whether there are any sources of interference below the antenna
Ordinary rainwater collection tanks do have limited space; this might be the reason. It’s a design flaw – thank you!
