I work in a pharmaceutical factory, and we have a new production line that requires real-time measurement of the density of the liquid inside tanks. I would like to know what are the available brands of online density meters, both in China and abroad (Emerson, Yokogawa? ? ) What are the options available in China, and what’s their quality? Among online density meters, the most classic and practical one is the U-tube density meter; represented by Yokogawa’s DM8 series, it can be used for conventional oils, water solutions that do not cause significant corrosion, as well as certain suspensions and emulsions. There are also specialized models designed for use with caustic soda, namely vibrating U-tubes made of nickel, which are widely used in the determination of caustic soda density. Since the sampling and sample processing systems used alongside them are also made of materials resistant to strong alkalis, they are extensively utilized in the ion-exchange membrane caustic soda industry. Another type is the ultrasonic densitometer, which uses a probe installed inside a pipeline or container; its apparent accuracy is close to that of the U-tube densitometer, but its actual precision is slightly lower. Another type is the densitometer that converts based on a fixed liquid level pressure difference, that is, it uses a differential pressure transmitter to output the differential pressure value at a fixed liquid level. The data reliability of this measurement method is highly dependent on the location chosen for measurement as well as the reliability of the transmitter. When looking for an analyzer, it is necessary to provide the manufacturer with the relevant physical and chemical parameters; these parameters are merely data, not the confidential names or production processes of the products manufactured by your pharmaceutical factory. Are temperature, pressure, density ranges and similar values also considered confidential?
If it’s the density of the liquid inside a tank, a simple and effective solution is to use a double-flange differential pressure density meter; it functions like a double-flange level gauge, with the condition that both upper and lower flanges must be below the liquid surface. Any manufacturer that can produce double-flange differential pressure transmitters can do it. Additionally, for higher-end options, Emerson offers a fork-type density meter that is used for measuring density inside tanks. Well, leaving aside its accuracy and stability, the only word that describes it is expensive. Expensive means high-quality; expensive means justice.
