The flow meter is installed on the quench water line; behind the quench water flow meter lies the quench water cooler (circulating water is used to cool the quench water). Normally, the flow rate of quench water is around 60 tons per hour, but in the past couple of days it has dropped sharply to 10–15 tons per hour. Activating the bypass valve for regulating the quench water flow also does not have any effect. I suspect there is a leak in the cooler behind the flow meter, causing a large amount of quench water to leak into the circulating water, which results in a lower reading of the flow rate indicated by the flow meter. What you measured is the flow rate at the front; the leakage has nothing to do with this
The cooler behind the flow meter is leaking; in my opinion, the flow rate should increase.
Leaks in the equipment downstream of the flow meter should not cause a decrease in flow rate; you should look for the causes in various aspects such as the instrument itself, as well as the process and equipment. If it is a vaporization unit, consider whether there is a blockage in the pressure guide tube, erosion of the throttling element, or damage to the transmitter diaphragm box...
