Our factory uses vortex flowmeters from Shanghai Kent. Is temperature and pressure compensation required when measuring biogas? What type of flowmeter is suitable for measuring biogas?
It depends on what kind of measurement results you need. If you only need the flow rate under operating conditions, temperature and pressure compensation is not required; but if you need the flow rate under standard conditions, then temperature and pressure compensation is necessary.
OP, how is it working? ? ? As far as I know, the use of vortex street technology to measure biogas flow has not been successful in any applications. Currently, thermal mass flow meters are basically used for measuring biogas flow rates. You can learn more about this; Fujian Anheuser-Busch Beer (Putian) Co., Ltd. uses the heat method, and Nanchang Asia Beer also employs this method. The apps are all very good.

It’s really difficult to choose a gas meter for biogas, as the pressure of biogas is low and there is saturated water present. Who has any successful experiences to share?
For biogas flow meters, the first thing to consider is where you plan to install them If it is the outlet of a biogas digester, where the pressure is low, the gas is humid and contains impurities, and the flow rate varies greatly, a thermal mass flow meter or an ultrasonic gas flow meter can be chosen; gas turbine flow meters, vortex-in-pipe flow meters, and vortex street flow meters are not recommended ; If it is the outlet of the gas storage tank, then there are many flow meters to choose from.

Unless the operating conditions on site are very stable, temperature and pressure compensation is still necessary; otherwise, the flow measurement values have little significance.
The principle of thermal flowmeters dictates that accuracy is not possible, or even the device cannot be used at all, when there are significant changes in the water content of the medium or when dirt adheres to the probe; this has been confirmed by the manufacturers’ technical teams. Everyone should weigh for themselves whether such a possibility exists.
There are two types of thermal types: constant power and constant temperature difference. The former can measure stable humid gases. We used it at the outlet of the biogas digester at the Tianjin East Suburbs sewage treatment plant many years ago.
