This is related to the field of automation; it is needed in industries such as the aerospace industry and chemical manufacturing.
In my freshman and sophomore years, I studied automation, while in my junior and senior years I focused on process control. At our school, automation is a major field of study; in the third year, it is divided into three sub-specializations: process control, factory automation, and there’s one more I can’t remember. The subjects learned are actually pretty similar; only a few courses differ.
Responsibilities for Process Control: In order to more effectively control the quality of products within the company and to clarify the duties of various positions in the Quality Department, the daily responsibilities related to process control are specified as follows: 1. Detect abnormalities in advance and take preventive measures; handle them promptly to prevent defective products from reaching subsequent stages of production, thereby ensuring the quality of products at each stage of manufacturing. 2. Responsible for checking, supervising, and evaluating the impact of the 4M1E factors in the production department on product quality; conducting regular inspections as scheduled, and paying extra attention to special manufacturing processes or areas prone to accidents, treating them as key processes that require special focus. 3. Responsible for implementing emergency response measures after anomalies occur, isolating defective products, formulating corrective and preventive actions, and providing written reports and records. Follow-up and implementation of corrective and preventive actions. 4. Conduct inspections at the frequency of once every two hours according to the standard schedule, and fill in the inspection results accurately in the \"Process Inspection Record Form\" to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the data. 5. Responsible for making decisions and keeping records regarding first-article inspection, and retaining the first-article sample until the next first-article verification. 6. Be responsible for the sampling inspection of semi-finished products, ensuring the accuracy and validity of the sample size as well as the inspection methods, and fill in the inspection results accurately on the \"Process Inspection Report Form\". 7. Based on records of first-article inspection, routine inspection, transfer inspection, and abnormality handling, conduct statistical analysis using 4M1E factors, and prepare weekly and monthly statistical reports. 8. Maintain good communication among various departments. 9. Responsible for supervising and maintaining 6S management on site. 10. Undertake work tasks temporarily assigned by higher-level leaders.

In chemical plants these days, the focus is either on processes or on instrumentation; it seems really difficult to be in a position where process control is the priority
