The laboratory purchased a small reactor; the pressure rating of the burst disc is 4 MPa (which is too high, as the actual reaction pressure is 0.8 MPa). The diaphragm pressure gauge chosen has a pressure rating of 1.6 MPa, and it features threaded connections. But from safety perspective, what if the pressure exceeds 1.6 MPa – could the diaphragm of the diaphragm pressure gauge be punctured, thereby posing a risk?
Can it be understood that all those things mentioned earlier are not useful, and the last sentence is the key point? 1.6 MPa – it depends on whether this 1.6 value refers to the range or the maximum operating pressure. It is the maximum operating pressure that represents the upper limit of pressure that the instrument can withstand; exceeding this limit may be dangerous
Pressure gauge. The pressure resistance of a diaphragm refers to the maximum operating pressure; it is a different concept from the range. Suppose your gauge has a range of 0–1.6 MPa, but the maximum operating pressure is definitely higher than 1.6 MPa. As for by how much, you will need to ask the manufacturer or check the model specifications yourself.
The diaphragm is broken, but there’s still a spring tube providing pressure; it’s not known exactly how much of it is damaged. Even if you know about it, it’s better to take safety measures, such as installing overpressure safety valves and overcurrent check valves.
If the range is 1.6, there’s definitely some headroom in the upward direction

To be honest, the pressure gauge has to burst first. I once encountered a novice who used the kPa scale instead of the MPa scale; when the valve was opened at a pressure of 30 MPa, the gauge exploded instantly
