I was wondering if there are any experts in valves who could help resolve this issue. I have a pipeline used for unloading liquid from tank trucks; the pressure varies from several dozen megapascals when the tank is full to just a few megapascals after unloading. I would like to use a control valve to maintain a constant pressure and flow rate at the outlet of this valve. I’m not sure whether this is possible – some sources suggest that cascade control using flow and pressure signals can be used for this purpose, while others say it’s not feasible.
It’s a bit difficult to control both pressure and flow at the same value; it’s necessary to determine which one is more important and to make it the primary control parameter – it’s better to have one primary control and one secondary one. I think the pressure stability for unloading is better on yours.
Cascade control also depends on the situation; it’s meaningless to use it here. It's fine to stabilize either the pressure or the flow rate.
Control? There’s only uniqueness as well – either it’s constant voltage or constant current, got it? Constant voltage with constant current at the same time – is that just delusion? I think using a self-acting flow valve along with a self-acting differential pressure valve will solve the problem. Of course, it’s just rough. For precision, a control valve is still necessary.
