How can I find the wiring terminal for a specific point in a DCS system within the cabinet? Seeking help
Check the circuit wiring diagram or the terminal cabinet wiring diagram
Enter the tag number of this point on the DCS engineer station. To determine which card and which channel this point belongs to, there is a number on the wiring label at the connection point of that channel on the card; by following this number, one can locate where the wire for this point is connected.
The physical address of this point is available in the engineer station configuration.
Search inside the cabinet using the drawings; first locate the terminal block, then check the address of that point, and you’ll find it.
The smart way is to trace down the rack step by step (provided you’re an instrumentation technician; otherwise you won’t even be able to find the rack), while the dumb way is to check the serial numbers of each cabinet one by one

Different systems vary, but they are all more or less similar. First, locate the channel address on the screen, and then use that address to find the workstation – controller card – IO card – and the specific channel where the desired point can be found. It would be even easier to look up if you kept electronic versions of the wiring diagrams. .

Different systems vary; taking Hilscher as an example, right-click on the tag to open this panel, where you can view the station number, device address, and channel number. By following the numbering rules, it’s possible to easily locate the rack. Hope this helps!
