I was previously exposed to Conixen’s SIS system, and I remember that there was no such thing as AO points in it. Now I see that the TCS-900 control system has AO points. What is the purpose of AO points in an SIS system? Do they serve to control devices such as control valves and frequency converters, just like the AO points in a DCS system?
The SIS system is not responsible for control, so AO points are not needed; it’s probably intended for ITCC.
Conjisen’s SIS, which is TRICON, comes with AO cards of model 3805E; these are used in ITCC projects. The most typical example is the AO cards used in the turbine speed control system TCS-900. It’s not clear whether these cards have undergone TUV certification, as at least back in 2016 they hadn’t
With pure SIS, AO points are not needed; if AO points are used, then control and SIS are combined together
What the original poster is referring to is probably the one used in ITCC.
They are used for controlling ITCC units, and there are two models: 3805E and 3806E. The range of current they can output differs. SIS is used in the furnace ignition system; in some cases AO is employed, but this is an exception. Conventional SIS systems are generally not used for this purpose. TRICON products come with SIL certification.
Used in aircraft engines; not used in chemical processes.
Siemens has Sil2 Ao, which can be used in SIS; it depends on how you use it.
