Is there a requirement for the installation direction of the emergency shut-off O-ring ball valve? In other words, can an O-type cut-off ball valve be installed in any way without affecting its leakage rating?
It can be installed in any direction, horizontally or vertically.
Generally, horizontal installation is more common, but vertical installation also has no issue
It depends on the requirements for your sealing surface; if it’s not a double-seal, the valve body should indicate the flow direction, and you just need to install it according to that direction!
Whether it is used well mainly depends on the selection and brand.
Ordinary ball valves do not indicate direction and can be installed in any orientation. In theory, ball valves have no directionality, but in practical installation, to prevent excessive leakage between the valve body and the valve cover, the valve body is usually connected in the direction from which the tank or material flows. Some ball valves are directional, and this is usually indicated on the valve; if installed in the wrong orientation, they cannot provide a proper seal. Ball valves are divided into single-direction sealing ball valves and double-direction sealing ball valves; the former has a directionality – if installed in the wrong orientation, it cannot ensure sealing under full pressure difference – while the latter has no such directionality. Structurally, there are two types: double-seal and single-seal. Double-seals generally have no requirement regarding flow direction, while single-seals do have such a requirement.

The manufacturer has replied to me. It’s similar to what Haiyou answered – my type of ball valve has a primary seal and an auxiliary seal, which means it has direction requirements
