I would like to ask everyone: must the sealing surface on a liquid chlorine storage tank be a male-female flange? Since instruments generally use the RF side, is there any mandatory specification requiring the use of the MFM side?
You can make the instrument show whatever face you want; it’s not that instruments only have an RF interface – it’s just that you don’t know how to design them.
Refer to the project’s unified piping table requirements and piping class; it specifies which flanges should be used for each type of pipe in that project. Additionally, in the design requirements of large foreign chemical companies, it has been the case that RF flanges are still used for 1500#, meaning that RTJ or MFM flanges are not required just because the pressure rating is above 900#.

The issue mainly lies in the flange sealing surfaces of the equipment connections; if there are no strict regulations, it would be preferable to use RF surfaces instead, as the current surfaces are concave-convex in design

I’m not from the material control or piping field; I can only say that the technical standards of several reputable foreign-based large chemical companies allow the use of RF face flanges in applications involving high temperature and pressure, and it’s not just one company that does this.
