Dear experts, I would like to ask: since Modbus communication lines are typically shielded twisted pair cables, can Category 6 or Category 7 network cables be used as a substitute? Are there any specific good models you can recommend? What is the maximum transmission distance? Thank you!
From personal experience, try not to use an Ethernet cable for transmission, as it’s difficult to troubleshoot problems that arise. It is recommended to use a 4-core shielded cable; the theoretical transmission distance for Modbus is 1.5 kilometers, but in practice this distance cannot be achieved, so a repeater needs to be used along the way.

It is generally chosen based on distance; in most cases I opt for 0.75 or 1
There are dedicated MODBUS communication cables; ordinary twisted pair wires can also be used, but the transmission distance and quality may be affected.
