I worked in the fine chemical instrumentation industry (mainly involved in operation and maintenance) for five years. In May this year, I switched to an environmental protection company as an electrical automation engineer… I spent half a year working on design, installation, and commissioning tasks (with most of my work focusing on design), and I really feel like returning to a factory – the working environment there is better for settling down; there aren’t as many distractions every day. The downside is that the salary is lower… Recently, I came across a job related to chemical instrumentation design, which involves drawing diagrams and creating logic diagrams; I’m thinking about taking that job, as I’m truly exhausted. Being a generalist is the worst option… But for the sake of my ambitions, I’ll return to the field of instrumentation – after all, I can’t waste those five years of work experience. After all, the deputy chief engineer in charge of electrical and instrumentation systems is still offering me a chance, right? I advise those who come later to proceed with caution – once you dive into this field, it’s like falling into an endless ocean; achieving high salaries is as difficult as reaching the sky. Whether it’s large-scale chemical manufacturing or small-scale ones, the process is always of primary importance – what about machinery, electricity, and instrumentation? Hehe... I have 3 years of experience in instrument maintenance, 5 years as an engineer for a foreign-owned DCS system. Currently, I have been working on the design of control instruments in a design institute for over a year. I still feel that I can keep learning; I am interested in IT, electrical control, and chemical engineering processes: lol

Mastering electrical and instrumentation skills, plus learning some mechanical equipment knowledge – that’s it! Other than the process, it’s you!
Environmental protection companies have quite free time – they handle two or three projects a year; if you’re familiar with the work, it can be completed in one or two weeks, but it’s mainly because you’re not familiar with it.
