With increased industrial investment, technological breakthroughs, and growing scale, the industry is set to enter a period of accelerated growth in the foreseeable future. On the other hand, with the widespread adoption of new technologies such as biochip technology, sensors, electronic design automation, and robotics, the application fields of instruments and meters will see even faster expansion. Industry experts say that from January to October, profit growth in some high-value-added downstream sectors such as the instrumentation manufacturing industry, as well as the computer, communication, and other electronic equipment manufacturing industries, has shown signs of recovery. These additional profits mainly stem from the steel, petroleum, building materials, and chemical industries. An increase of 63.7%, 25.2%, 45.9%, and 22.1% respectively. The combined contribution of these 5 industries to the profit growth of industrial enterprises above a certain scale was 75.7%. To explore the factors behind industry development, investment in technology is essential. The \"2017 National Statistics Bulletin on Investment in Science and Technology\" shows that in 2017, China increased its investment in science and technology, with the expenditure on research and experimental development (R&D) growing at an accelerated pace. Among them, the R&D expenditure in the instrumentation manufacturing industry was 21.02 billion yuan, with an investment intensity of 2.11%. As China accelerates its pace of independent innovation, policy initiatives aimed at promoting domestic production, along with advances in science and technology, have played a significant role in driving the development of the instrumentation industry. The industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, along with increased efforts by enterprises to pursue independent innovation, have greatly improved the technical specifications and product quality of domestic instruments and equipment. Of course, in the development of the scientific instrumentation industry, the sector still faces many problems and gaps. Although domestic instrument technology has made repeated breakthroughs, there is still a significant gap compared to international advanced technologies in high-end products and certain emerging fields. In particular, the import volume of high-tech, high-value-added products, represented by experimental analysis and precision optical instruments, has remained high for a long time. Domestic instruments lack applied research, especially making it difficult to promote and apply them in provincial-level institutions and key research laboratories. At the same time, various sectors of society still hold the same old perceptions regarding domestic instruments; this requires companies in the industry to increase their efforts in promoting advanced and high-quality product technologies, thereby enhancing the brand image of domestic instrumentation. It is believed that as China’s independent innovation capabilities continue to develop, the domestic market for instruments and meters will see sustained recovery. Domestic instrument manufacturers will also have more confidence and capability to compete with imported companies and create world-class products.
