Dear experts, our company uses a Kolon OPTIMASS 7400C mass flow meter with a thermal insulation jacket (for keeping hot water warm), and the medium being measured is yellow phosphorus. The on-site installation is done in a horizontal manner; the yellow phosphorus from the metering tank passes through a flow meter, a pneumatic on/off valve, and a manual valve before entering the equipment. The operation procedure involves using the central control system to open the pneumatic on/off valve, then opening the manual valve on-site to start feeding yellow phosphorus. Once the set value is reached, the pneumatic on/off valve closes automatically, after which the manual valve is closed on-site as well. In the past two days, there has been an issue of false flow readings during use: when the pneumatic control valve or manual valve is opened, no material actually passes through, yet the flow meter shows flow. What could be causing this? In reality, no yellow phosphorus passed through, which means the pipeline is blocked. But even if the pipeline is blocked, there should be no flow at all; yet the flow meter shows that there is flow. Could all the experts please help analyze this? Thank you! ! !
A flow meter is an instrument for measuring fluids. The material solidifies and blocks the pipes; in other words, the measurement conditions are disrupted. If the skin is gone, where can the hair attach itself? With abnormal measurement values, it’s not suitable at all. Just as when a water pipe freezes, the pressure gauge shows extremely high readings, and the diaphragm may even rupture.
Take it off, clean it, and set the water level to zero
The 3rd floor is correct; however, it’s not zeroing with water, but rather with yellow phosphorus – this is probably due to zero drift. Or, is it possible that gas is passing through?
The pipeline is blocked; the flow meter itself has a jacket for insulation, so the yellow phosphorus inside the flow meter does not solidify. Could a small amount of yellow phosphorus vaporize, resulting in both gas and liquid phases and thus leading to false flow readings?
I don’t rule out the possibility of that……
The 7400 has an EGM (gas measurement) function, so it shouldn’t be caused by a gas-liquid two-phase condition
