For instrument systems of SIL2 level in existing installations, are the measuring instruments and final elements installed separately from the control system? How does everyone handle this situation?
Regardless of whether it’s new construction, existing construction, or renovation, sil2 is definitely separated. If it is one of the latter two cases for sil1, there is no need to separate them
Do all those with sil>0 need to be included in sis?
\"Code for Design of Safety Instrumented Systems in Petrochemical Industries\" (GB/T50770-2013) 6.2 Independent Installation of Measurement Instruments 6.2.1 For SIL 1 level safety instrumented functions, the measurement instruments can be shared with the basic process control system. 6.2.2 For SIL 2 safety instrumented functions, the measuring instruments should be separated from the basic process control system. 6.2.3 For sL3 level safety instrumented functions, the measuring instruments shall be separated from the basic process control system. 7.2 Independent installation of control valves 7.2.1 For SIL 1 safety instrumented functions, control valves can be shared with the basic process control system; it must be ensured that the safety instrumented system takes precedence in operation. 7.2.2 For SIL 2 safety instrumented functions, control valves should be separated from the basic process control system. 7.2.3 For SIL 3 safety instrumented functions, control valves shall be separated from the basic process control system.
6.2.2 For SIL 2 safety instrumented functions, the measuring instruments should be separated from the basic process control system. 6.3.2 For SIL 2 safety instrumented functions, redundant measuring instruments should be used for the measuring devices. 7.2.2 For SIL 2 safety instrumented functions, control valves should be separated from the basic process control system. 7.3.2 For SIL 2 safety instrumented functions, redundant control valves are recommended. 8.2.2 For SIL2-level safety instrumented functions, the logic controller should be separated from the basic process control system. 8.3.2 For SIL2-level safety instrumented functions, redundant logic controllers are recommended.
What is mentioned in the standards are recommendations; it’s completely fine not to separate existing devices, right? !
Yes, we have a set of devices rated at SIL2 level, all of which are integrated into the DCS; even when experts came to conduct inspections, there were no issues with this……
That’s not mandatory, right? I haven’t noticed that yet; I’ll check later regarding my device level
There were no delays during this round of expert inspections, but the next round might require the tasks to be separated: lol
It’s really difficult to enforce such rules; it’s hard to know what to do. As long as nothing goes wrong, that’s fine, but once something does happen, people ask why they weren’t separated! !
Anyway, it’s not mandatory per national standards, so just argue your case……
