As shown in the diagram of the distillation tower, when LIC-315 is adjusted up or down while the other two valves remain unchanged, the pressure at PIC-325 hardly changes. However, when FIC-336 is adjusted up or down with the other two valves unchanged, the pressure at PIC-325 changes significantly. Could it be that LIC315 is installed backwards?

The flow direction of the medium is indicated on the valve body, and it is verified in detail during installation. If it is indeed installed incorrectly, this can only be attributed to inadequate management and failure to follow technical standards during the installation process by the company. It is recommended that the original poster go to the site and take a look; seeing the results firsthand is much more reliable than trying to estimate them based on pressure changes. You’re not saying it’s impossible to get to that valve on site, are you?
The effect of liquid level on pressure is definitely not as significant as that of flow rate

If the 315 is installed in reverse and set to manual mode, there is almost no impact. In some cases, the control valve is installed in the wrong direction; even when set to automatic mode, the adjustment still works well.
In the case of cage or straight-through types, the impact is generally minimal; however, it may have some effect on butterfly or ball valves.
