I installed the English version of Win7 Ultimate SP1 in a virtual machine; this is a system recognized by Siemens. Office was also installed as required, along with the Message Queue Service and IIS for web services. The firewall was disabled as well, and there were no error messages during the installation process. However, WinCC cannot be started after installation; once it is attempted to start, it crashes whether the option to open an existing project or to create a new one is selected. What is the reason? Are there any further settings that need to be made? I’ve tried reinstalling the operating system, and I’ve also tried installing versions 8.1, 8.2, and 9.0 of PCS7 – it’s the same in all cases!
The same problem occurs when you install multiple versions, which indicates that the issue lies with your Windows 7, not with PCS7. I have installed these various versions of the PCS7 virtual machine. Installation instructions for the respective PCS7 versions are available on Siemens’ Chinese website; following those instructions makes installation straightforward, and you won’t encounter the problem you faced. Your issue still lies with the operating system; find another original English version of Windows 7, activate it using the Xiaoma activation tool, and then follow Siemens’ installation instructions. In some versions of PCS7, there was a bug that caused WinCCx to crash, but this occurred only occasionally during operation; installing the WinCC patch package resolved the issue.
Try switching to the Win7 version; it’s usually a system issue. It’s best to go to MSDN for the original version
I changed the operating system from Win7 Ultimate to Enterprise, but it still doesn’t work; however, as far as I know, other people have managed to install it using the Enterprise version. If I open WinCC directly, it crashes. If I open SIMATIC Manager and then use it to open WinCC, a message appears saying “The configured server is not available. Do you want to open the project with the local computer as server?” Choosing yes also causes WinCC to crash. Therefore, I still think there is an issue with the settings; it isn’t mentioned in PCS7’s official installation instructions. Could you please advise on how to set it up?
