Recently, the client in the project requested the addition of visual level markers (fixed steel scales). Due to the special structure of the device, it needs to be fixed to the edge rather than directly to the wall. As a result, the steel ruler has a special structure, rather than simply purchasing a finished product and securing it with bolts. Some argue that on-site processing is sufficient. May I ask whether processes such as the manufacturing and calibration of scales should be included within the scope of the measuring instrument licensing system and subject to mandatory inspection? Is on-site processing and manufacturing feasible?
It depends on the level of precision required and whether it needs to be under the supervision of regulatory authorities. For example, ordinary level gauges and oil level gauges are sufficient for basic use, but it is most important that they be approved by the client. It is recommended to install it in accordance with the original design while also meeting the requirements of the client. But procedures must be followed. Such as project changes and the like.
Can a level deviation cause an explosion? Otherwise, there’s no need to go through the trouble of linking it to measurement.

The industry is a special one; the liquid level values determined using these standards don’t actually serve any strict safety purposes, but they are still requirements imposed by the regulatory authorities. Moreover, due to the narrow measurement range, installation errors can directly affect the accuracy of the readings, which is difficult for the designers to control. I personally advocate that professional manufacturers produce according to standards, perform actual calibration based on the conditions after installation, and carry out etching back at the factory. The process is rather complicated. Another proposal is for the design institute to produce the fabrication drawings, which are then fabricated and installed on-site by the construction party, with no strict requirement for accuracy.
