A vertical cylindrical steel storage tank with a capacity of 200 cubic meters, used to store an aqueous solution of dimethylamine; this constitutes a major hazard source of level 3! The original magnetic flap level gauges provided very poor on-site indication; now we want to replace them with radar-based systems, installing an explosion-proof large-screen LED display at the site to show the level. Will this meet the relevant specifications? If that’s not possible, which regulation will come into play then? Thank you so much! ! ! !
No problem at all – who could say anything bad about a luxury dashboard? According to the specifications, 2 sets are required; it is preferable to have another set that uses a different measurement principle and includes remote transmission capabilities.
Radar, double flange design; various servo-level options available. It’s definitely better than magnetic flip plates, with the signal going to the DCS. There is no rule stating that LEDs cannot be used on-site; as long as they meet the explosion-proof standards, it’s acceptable.
Why install an LED display on-site? My suggestion is to use a flip-type level gauge together with a radar level gauge, and to check the magnetic flip-type level gauge during inspections ; The control room staff and management monitor the data on signal transmission indoors; they can verify each other’s findings on a regular basis to ensure accuracy. (The magnetic flip plate needs to be maintained regularly; otherwise, it will definitely affect the reading and observation.)
It’s also quite good to have a large screen for centralized display on-site, provided that the explosion-proof rating meets the requirements for on-site protection
We already have a single-flange level gauge from SIS; the one we’re adding here is for use with the DCS. By using both together, we can verify the results. What I’m focusing on at the moment is using an LED to indicate whether the conditions at the site are compliant or not
The prerequisite is that the explosion protection rating meets the requirements for on-site protection, which ensures compliance
