What are the advantages and disadvantages of the intelligent junction box approach in Emerson control systems? I’m asking the experts to help explain it

I’ve never used it; I’ve only heard about it. From what I’ve heard, it offers significant advantages for projects that require extensive technical upgrades later on. I don’t need to worry about the type of points to reserve, nor do I have to keep track of how many tasks of types AI, AO, DI, DO, etc. there are; even if there are changes during the project, there’s no need to adjust the plan midway, which is really convenient.
