Gentlemen, I have a Yokogawa high-pressure double-flange level gauge here with a range of 6000 mm. Under normal use at a pressure of 3 Mpa, it functions properly. However, when all the material in the pipe is pushed out and the pressure inside the tank drops, the level keeps rising; yesterday it reached 17000 mm. When the tank is filled with catalyst but the pressure is insufficient, the level drops all the way down to several thousand millimeters below zero. I personally suspect that there might be a problem with the diaphragm, but production is running at full capacity and it’s not possible to disassemble it for inspection; moreover, removing it would require nitrogen purging three times or more, which would have too many consequences. Now the value is too high, triggering alarm AL53; the data logger can no longer be zeroed
Is there hydrogen inside? Is the diaphragm box made of stainless steel?
The diaphragm box was specially designed and selected in collaboration with the manufacturer, so there should be no problem. Hydrogen gas is produced during the reaction
Under high temperature and pressure in the presence of hydrogen, hydrogen corrosion of the diaphragm box containing carbon occurs very rapidly; it’s likely that the diaphragm box isn’t specially designed (I’ve seen ones with a gold coating). I suggest you check the diaphragm box – 90% of the time, the problem lies there

What to do in case of a safety accident? Sure enough, they will say there’s a problem with the instrument. You should then submit a written request to the workshop supervisor to have the instrument replaced; if he refuses, keep evidence of this, as he will bear primary responsibility if anything goes wrong.
The liquid level is now being compared using the filling volume of another tank; the pressure has been increased to around 7 Mpa, and at present it’s functioning adequately for normal use. . . . Fortunately, this workshop isn’t under my responsibility; I’ll talk to their supervisor
