I have just received a batch of detectors for flammable gases and toxic substances, but I encountered a problem when using them: the users do not have the authority to calibrate for zero-point drift. The manufacturer says this is required by regulations, and if it is necessary, one should contact a testing company to make the adjustments. Are there really such regulatory requirements? If so, isn’t that indirectly increasing the user’s consumption?
This usually doesn’t happen. What brand are you using?
Hello. I am a manufacturer of gas alarm devices. Our detectors can be zero-calibrated; I’ve never heard of any need for permission restrictions. If you have any technical or product needs, feel free to contact me.
It’s best not to touch the detectors that are under mandatory inspection

Those that don’t require permissions and have on-site displays usually come with a remote control for calibration. Some center-control calibrations are not displayed; it is also possible to adjust the zero point and range on the probe. We deal with alarm calibrations, so there’s no need to see too many of these settings
This thing is no longer subject to mandatory inspection nowadays
