At the current stage, when designing combustible and toxic gas alarm systems, design institutes generally use separate cabinets within the DCS system for centralized signal collection. However, while studying the relevant standards today, it was found that according to section 5.4.1 on page 66 of GB/T50493-2019, the combustible gas and toxic gas detection and alarm systems must not be designed in conjunction with the production process control system; this is to ensure that such systems can continue to function properly even if there are failures or disruptions in the production process control system. Can it be understood from this that a flammable and toxic gas detection and alarm system cannot be integrated with the DCS; the signals cannot be sent solely to the DCS, and a separate GDS system is required? Is there anyone who can explain the specifications in depth? Thank you!
Yes, a combustible and toxic gas alarm system requires a separate GDS system.
The 2009 specifications can be shared with DCS, but the 2019 specifications explicitly require separation.
