When counting the instrument cables, how much extra margin is needed compared to what’s measured on the drawings?
Does the drawing refer to one provided by the design institute? Generally, the amount of cable required is determined based on the data provided by the design institute; as long as there are no major errors, some cable will be left over. From what I know, several design institutes specify an amount of cable that is 20% higher than what is indicated in the drawings.

First, it is necessary to determine whether the margin refers to the length of the cable, or the number of cores in the cable, or whether a margin needs to be considered for both. If only length is taken into consideration, a larger margin can be considered for shorter distances, such as 20%; for longer distances, a smaller margin suffices, with 10–15% being adequate. For particularly long distances, 5% may already be sufficient. As for the number of cable cores, the number of multi-core or spare cores needs to be determined based on specific requirements. Power cables generally do not need to be considered, but for signal cables, the margin that can be taken into account is estimated based on the number of circuits or control requirements.
