This flow meter is used for the cooling water in the electrical cabinet. Under normal conditions, it shows a value of 42 L/min. After adjusting the upstream throttle valve and observing, it was found that the flow rate rose to 62 L/min before suddenly jumping to around 240 L/min; what phenomenon is responsible for this reading of 242 L/min? Can’t display out of range? I wanted to consult the manufacturer, but they asked me to send an email: @, it’s too troublesome! I would like to ask everyone: is the phenomenon where the value jumps from 62L to 242L an indication of an out-of-range condition? Looking at the wiring diagram from the photo, how is it wired? What type of signal is it?
This post was last edited by myface on 2021-8-11 at 11:03. It should be a pulse output; if the range set on the DCS side is 6.5–60, then it’s impossible to have a flow rate of 240. It’s necessary to check how your own control system handles signals that exceed the displayed range. Are there any other terminals below? Also, it’s normal for reputable manufacturers to ask for an email; it only takes a minute or two, so it’s not a hassle.
This flow meter isn’t connected to the DCS; it’s connected to an intermediate-frequency power supply cabinet on site, and the flow rate is displayed on that cabinet. The entire cabinet comes from Germany. When I asked the manufacturer why 240L was shown, they replied that the flow meter was broken. As for emails, I understand that they’re necessary for important matters, but it’s too troublesome when it’s a technical support staff member who sends the emails.
So does that mean there’s a secondary instrument on the cabinet? You can try using a different secondary instrument that is capable of receiving pulse signals, in order to determine whether the problem lies with the secondary instrument or with the flow meter itself being outside its operating range. Also, is it possible to actually determine whether the traffic volume has exceeded the limit?
No instruments; it’s a complete electrical cabinet. There is no circuit diagram for the cabinet. The cabinet is a pre-assembled unit, and the manufacturer does not provide information regarding specific parameters or functions – they only offer on-site service (at a cost:@)
There aren’t even any drawings – that’s too much. What kind of monopolized technology is this? So even if you find some problem, you might still have to ask them to fix the cabinet – does this flow participate in any interlocking or control mechanisms? If not, you can try connecting a table temporarily by yourself.
The system will trip if the flow rate falls below 38 L. Previously, when the flow rate fluctuated around 37.6 L, we considered lowering the threshold for triggering an alarm to 37, but we didn’t know how to do it. When we contacted the manufacturer’s engineers, they said that only they could come and make the adjustment; if we wanted them to do it, we would need to send them a letter. In other words, it’s a way of charging money – clearly, it’s a monopolistic company.
There are 22 such cabinets in total. No circuit diagrams are provided; there is only a manual, but no circuit diagrams at all. I only understood the function areas of the main circuit units, and nothing about circuit control. Most of the manual deals with the part numbers (order numbers) of various components. The entire manual is in German, so I had to figure things out by guessing.
It seems that if you move the cabinet, they won’t provide warranty coverage either, right? This still needs to be submitted for the leader’s decision.
It’s past its warranty period; the device is still in use, so it can’t be moved around at will.
